Dear family
Hi family. Things as usual are going superb down here. This week was a week of solid work. It started off this past Tuesday with a great experience. We have been teaching this family Blanco for a little while, they are very nice people, but for a while they weren't completing with the compromises the compromises that we were giving them. On tuesday the wife was having a bad day and decided to return her book of mormon. However the husband Carlos still wanted to listen to us. The key to gain a testimony is to READ and PRAY. The people that do this will receive an answer, it's a promise from God. The wife hadn´t read or prayed, so she never felt a conviction to move forward. The Husband had read, but had never prayed. So he still had some interest, but wasn't really convinced. (he has a really hard shell).
Anyways we had a little lesson with Carlos the husband and at the end he said that yeah he was willing to keep reading. But he wasn´t praying. Then we invited him to pray. "No no", he rejected the offer at first, then we explained to him very simply how it is that he can pray. After a little while he finally accepted. For the first time in his life he prayed. A very simple prayer, but it was powerful. It was very emotional. He finished the prayer and he was just excited. It was a pleasure to be a part of that experience to help someone talk to their heavenly father for the first time in their life. We´re going to continue to work with him to strengthen his testimony and eventually help his family.
We´re getting close to finishing the Book of Mormon, its been an amazing experience reading the Book of Mormon at this blistering pace. We just finished reading Helaman. Its interesting to think about the seeing isn´t believing concept. We teach a bunch of less active members during the week. Each one says that they know that the church is true, they always feel the spirit when they do things like when they read and pray and go to church, but something holds them back from progressing. They lack the desires to progress. They felt the spirit and knew the church was true, so they got baptized, but now because they don't work to keep that spirit with them they falter and decide, God will understand if I go to church every once and a while.
Right now though we are working with a less active family in Carmen, who now are actually making an effort to have the spirit with them. The family Peney. They just started doing family home evening and going to church and family scripture study and now they are just super solid. In the past month we have seen a huge change in brother peney. He is just happy now and happy that his family is happy and getting along. The brother and sister peney got baptized when they were both 14, then went inactive for 20 years, until now when they are working to keep that fire that they had with them. So they are becoming truly converted.
We have the baptism of Rosa (the grandma) this week, its going to be special. Ill make sure to take photos. Shes just awesome.
Well family I hope your enjoying the most wonderful time of the year. Until next week
Love
