From Dave - 11.6.07

So this week im running a little short on time, so the letters a little shorter, also i didn´t really have time to read all of the emails you sent me this week, ive left some for next week and will respond then. new area Murphy / Centro 3 is crazy! we are sooooo super busy. everyday it just seems like there aren't enough hours in the day. First off it's pretty sweet because we are riding bikes now. down side of that is that we have to wear super lame helmets. Everyone here uses bikes but no one even knows what a helmet is. they just look at us and laugh and point. we are fulfilling prophecy by that though no? haha i dont care. as long as i get to get to places quicker that's all that matters This area is more complicated than i can really even express. im technically in 1 area with 4 elders, but it's not big enough to be split into 2 areas. part of the area is in murphy, part is in venado tuerto. Murphy is super super chill farmer town. the fields are really beautiful this time of year. but yeah 2 days a week i don't even work with my comp elder butler and i work with Elder Gonzalez a portaño (from buenos aires) that's because my comp and the other zone leader need to go out to st isabel and help a branch out there. It's a new branch that's just blowing up. there is an older couple who is supposed to take care of a farm out here and they just started to take initiative and do proselyting and they have like 10 baptisms coming up this week (brother and sister pace from utah) so that area out there needs a little help so my comp goes out there and helps that along. so i get here to this area and we had 7 investigators in the church this week. 2 of which are going to be baptized this week! Enzo and valentina suarez. they are 9 and 12 respectively and we are working to get their mom a date too, she just has some habits she's working to quit. they are awesome and are going to be great members. It's going to be so fun to see a baptism. I'm so pumped about my new assignment here in murphy. funny story. so we were teaching this less active family who has a 12 year old who wants to get baptized and after we were teaching the family the girl (Celena) brought us letters in English that she had randomly received from some 7th grade girl in Oregon. She had gotten like 3 letters from this girl from the US, but the big problem was that the girl in the US didn't realize that they don't speak English here. Celena was like what is this, why do i keep getting these letters in English! the oregon penpal in the letters was saying stuff in her most recent letter like, please respond! i want to know how stuff is like down there in argentina I'm going to keep sending copies until i get a response! write back sooon! It's just funny to me to see the other side of the whole middle school pen pal thing. Poor Celena was just like what the heck! we translated the letter for her and she's going to respond to the Oregon girl in castellano so that maybe she gets the point that they don't speak english here. Haha my new comp elder bulter is really into doing singing and music. so before a lot of our lessons we have been singing songs out of the hymnal a little duet, mom you'd be proud. I think we sound alright but the people hear love it. Haha. I'm also going to start working on playing some hymns on the piano so i can play during sacrament meeting. It's very hard to find anyone with the least bit of musical talent here. so the little that i have I'm going to try to put to use. but yeah. my time is cut a little short now because we got important stuff to do. next week I'm going to take the full time. if you got questions send em my way. thanks for your love and support. i know that the church is true and it has the ability to change lives as i see the mission changing my life and my view on life.

love

elder whiting
